...The building, on a commercial strip of Chicago Avenue, is a former carpet warehouse and car dealership that now boasts three distinct attractions: Union, a sleek, upscale pizza restaurant at the front; the 250-capacity SPACE (aka Society for the Preservation of Arts & Culture in Evanston) in the center; and a five-room recording studio and creatively appointed, eclectically modern lounge in back, where performers and fee-paying members can rehearse, record or just hang out amid coffee tables and end tables fashioned from obsolete recording equipment and a banjo.
