Black dogs and cats living in shelters have a significantly higher euthanasia rate and are less likely to be adopted--because of outdated ideas about superstition, incorrect stereotypes about aggression, and being visually overlooked in shelters as equally loving and loveable pets for you and yours. Virtually Home Chicago, a nonprofit rescue group, is holding a benefit tonight from 7-10pm at the Gold Star (1755 W Division) for these "Sexy Black" animals. For $20, you'll get a drink, sandwich, tote bag, and the fuzzy feeling of knowing you've helped out some furry friends in need...and while you're at it, adopt an animal!
