Lilly Shelled As Cubs' Rally Falls Short
The Cubs' offense produced plenty of runs but, unfortunately, the pitching staff didn't have a great outing and the Dodgers scored more in a 9-7 win over the visiting North Siders. The Cubs' pitching was shelled, giving up nine runs over the first six innings. Ted Lilly gave up seven runs (five earned) over 3.2 IP. The Cubs managed to put together a rally, scoring twice in the eighth and ninth innings, but ultimately fell short. The team was 3-for-12 with men in scoring position and stranded eight on base. The Cubs will try to put together a win later this afternoon when they send Tom Gorzelanny to the mound (3:10 p.m., FOX).
