Victim found shot dead inside crashed car

Police discovered a person shot dead inside a crashed vehicle in the West Englewood neighborhood tonight, police said.

Police began receiving reports of gunshots fired just after 9 p.m. on the 6800 block of South Claremont Avenue, said Chicago police News Affairs Officer Ron Gaines.

Moments later, a vehicle crashed into a building and caught fire, Gaines said. When authorities looked inside the vehicle, they found a person apparently shot dead with multiple gunshot wounds.

Further details about the victim were not immediately known. No one has been arrested late Tuesday.
